Dr. P Phillips Board Member Spotlight

Tell us a little about yourself personally and professionally?

Married to my wonderful wife, Ellie and have to great children, Jonathan 27 and Stephanie 20. We live in Bay Hill and love living in the Dr. Phillips area of Orlando. In our spare time, which is very spare, we love to travel, be with friends and I enjoy playing golf! (When Ellie says I can). I am a Partner and Chief Operating Officer of the very large Real Estate Company in Florida with over 120 agents state wide. Enjoyed 26 years in the hospitality business as Regional VP and Vice President with both Wyndham Resorts and Orange Lake Resort.

What is one thing that nobody knows about you?

Attempted a 40 yard field goal for $1,000,000 at half time during a Dallas Cowboy game in front of 60,000 fans! Spent time working with Dallas Cowboys Kicker at their training facilities. Spent time with Troy Aikman, Emmitt Smith and the entire Cowboys team. (No, I did not make it) 🙁 Jerry Jones provided me with Season Tickets for my troubles!

When did you join the Y board and what made you decide to do so?

Great Question? I’m guessing 6 or 7 years ago? I joined the Board because I wanted to be able to give back to community I love. Helping others in need and providing services which can assist with changing someones life for the better is why I am apart of the Board. There are so many children, seniors and adults in our own community who need our assistance. Life is tough and can be challenging and we all have faced difficult times so when you are at a good place and time in your life, give back and lend a helping hand.

Tell us your “Y-story”

My Y-Story is like many people as I got a little older I started thinking more about health issues, family, children and life. It was apparent that getting in shape gets more difficult the older you get. I joined and started attending the Morning Fit Club or the 5:15 am Club to get back in shape. Ellie and I have been attending for 7 years and I have realized the fitness aspect of working out is great but the most rewarding part of the past 7 years of attending the YMCA and the Morning Fit Club has been the wonderful relationships and friendships we have been blessed with. The Y Family is a VERY large part of our Family!

What do you hope to accomplish being a part of the Y board?

I hope together the board will continue to provide direction and support to the many programs and enabling the YMCA to identify and meet the needs of our community. I hope we continue to change lives and provide support to those in need when their bump in the road happens. I hope we can bring our entire community together to help each other and continue the legacy of Dr. Phillips.
